Council on International Educational Exchange

For over 30 years Council, in conjunction with a consortium of over 180 institutions of higher education, has maintained a reputation for offering carefully designed, innovative, high-quality academic programs and support services that assure students a fully integrated, well-rounded study abroad experience. Council offers two models of study abroad, University Direct Enrollment Service (UDES) and the Council Study Centers.

When considering all of your options, look at what services are provided for the costs advertised and which of the services you are likely to actually utilize both before and during your stay abroad.

University Direct Enrollment Service

Council provides the following for the University Direct Enrollment Serivce at a cost that is often significantly lower than the structured study abroad model.

Council's UDES is able to provide you with study abroad opportunities in Australia through a relationship with IDP Education Australia. With dozens of universities across Australia available, and hundreds of courses available at each university, students who may not have considered leaving their home institution for a semester or year are able to continue study in their major field and earn credit towards a degree while experiencing all of the benefits that study abroad offers.

If you consider yourself to be independent and highly motivated, then direct enrollment could be the right study abroad alternative for you, as the service is intended for students who are looking for a more individualized experience.

Council provides the following for the University Direct Enrollment Service fee:

Carefully Selected Host Institutions - Facilitated Application, Payment, and Enrollment Process - Official Host Institution Transcripts and Course Descriptions - International Student Identity Card and Insurance Coverage - Budget Student Travel Information - Contact with Past Participants - Combination of other Study, Work, and Volunteer opportunities

Council Study Centers

In addition to all of the services that UDES offers, the Council Study Centers have on-site full-time resident staff who are responsible for the daily management of the program, liaising with the host institution on behalf of students, and student counseling. They also organize program-specific orientation and co-curricular cultural activities & excursions that only program participants can join.
