Description:
Designed to showcase the unique visual, historical and environmental aspects of Australian landscape through direct experience, students will be presented with an overview of Australian art with particular emphasis upon the influence of landscape. An exibition of student work will be held on campus at the college gallery and the students' submissions will form the basis for assessment in the course. Visits include Kinchenga National Park, the UNSW Arid Zone Research Station and Muttawyngie National Park in the far west of New South Wales. The second major trip will be north of Sydney at Smith's Lake offering a lush landscape in direct contrast to the arid west. Students will have time on both trips for landscape painting. Artists will be available for consultation.
