Prevention Methods of Stretch Marks

There is a popular saying that goes: prevention is better than cure. This is very applicable to skin problems. Usually, if a skin problem occurs, they have permanent characters. It will really be hard to get rid of them entirely. This is why it is really true to prevent these problems in the first place than to find solution for it.

What makes it worse is the fact that the skin is one of the major factors that determines beauty in an individual. Beauty here is meant whether a person looks old or young. When the skin does not look good, or a skin looks unhealthy, for sure the person will look old.

One example of skin problem that can be a lot of trouble once it occurs is stretch mark. It is very hard to get rid of it once it appears on the skin.

Causes of Stretch Marks

Before knowing how to prevent stretch marks, it is wise to first know what causes it. However, the name of the skin problem would already suggest an idea. This is caused due to a sudden stretch of the skin. This is the very reason why stretch marks are often related to pregnancy where the skin stretches very wide in just a very short period of time.

By the time the skin gets back to shape, it would already have gotten some scars on its middle layer. Just underneath the epidermis (the outermost layer of the skin), breaks will happen causing some red lines to appear from the outside. Hence, if you examine a stretch mark very closely, you will see that it cannot be scratched from the surface.

How to Prevent Stretch Marks

In cases aside from pregnancy, one can prevent stretch marks by being conscious with his or her figure. This would further mean being conscious with your diet and other habits. Keeping a healthy and fit body can also get you away from this kind of skin problem, and in fact, even from other problems as well. This prevention method will of course exclude pregnancy because it is inevitable to keep a slim shape during pregnancy.

Other general methods that can help prevent stretch marks from happening are drinking a lot of water, consistent application of moisturizers, eating healthy food, and exercises. These methods may seem to be very mundane but believe it or not, they work. For example, by drinking a lot of water, you enable your skin to maintain and even improve its elasticity. The same thing is true with moisturizers. All these methods will help the skin with is character to expand and compress and will therefore help in staying away from stretch marks.

Once stretch marks appear on the body, treatments and therapies can only lighten their traces. There is no known remedy that could take every trace away yet. Even lasers can leave a very light mark from stretch marks. In other words, it is of utmost importance that a person guards himself from getting stretch marks.

Acne Care Made Easy

Acne is an annoying but easily manageable condition. Perhaps what makes this condition so difficult in terms of treatment is that people tend to do particular “cures” that exacerbate the problem, eat the wrong foods or even have certain habits that cause the acne to spread.

Here are a couple of easy to understand tips that not only make treatment manageable, but also accessible in your own home:

1. Clean your face. This basic tenant means that you should clean your face at least twice a day in order to insure that your face is cleared of dirt and grime. Cleaning it too much can clear sebum on your face, which is not a good idea since it keeps your face hydrated. Cleaning your face too much can cause either overproduction on your skin or dry skin.

2. Less make up, the better. Even if you’re using specialized makeup that prevents pore clogs, it still risks in clogging them. Concealers are the usual suspects since they already cover blemishes like acne scars or even dark circles around your eye. The trick here is to remove you make-up immediately after using it as prolonged stay on your skin can cause acne no matter how hypoallergenic or natural it is.

3.  What you put on your hair can affect your skin. Always take precaution when putting oils, fragrances or even hair gel for extended periods of time as they might, again, clog your pores. Also, if you have exceptionally long hair, always keep it away from your face.

4. Never pop your pimples. The temptation is always there, but don’t. Acne scarring can carry over a long period of time and could lead to more acne plus it could lead to concealer use which can also clog your pores. Whatever you do, don’t.

5. If using anti-acne products don’t work, go to your dermatologist. Your doctor knows mores than you, so if you think that your acne medication doesn’t work; don’t hesitate to ask.

Additional Notes

Understand what “clean” means. There is delineation between keeping your face clean and cleaning your face way to much. You see, despite the fact that our body is programmed and adapted to be able to resist the elements, there are certain things that one can do that can make it difficult than it has to be.

You see, your face expels specialized oil called sebum. The sebaceous gland is responsible for expelling a fixed amount of this light yellow fluid all over your face. This oil is responsible for hydrating your face. If the gland produces too few, it makes your skin feel rough; if it produces too much, it will make your skin oily and all shiny.

Also, not all skin types are made equal; this means that certain over the counter medication might not work all the time. Sometimes, they even work too well. Retinol for one is a sensitive chemical that can potentially cause more harm on your skin.

Foods You Need To Eat To Promote HGH

The human growth hormone, or HGH, is being produced and secreted at the base of the brain by the pituitary gland. It functions by fuelling childhood years and aids in maintaining the optimum functions of organs and tissues all throughout our lives. The production of HGH by the body has a tendency to slow down with age and it may be decreased due to a series of deficiencies in the diet and medical conditions. There are no specific foods which have HGH, but one can include certain items in the diet in order to stimulate the body in order to produce more amounts of the hormone.

Low-Glycemic Foods

Elevated levels of blood glucose can suppress the body’s natural HGH production that is why sticking to the foods which have a low glycemic index can promote HGH secretion, according to “100 Ways to Boost Your Metabolism” by Ben Greenfield. This index measures the effects of several foods on the levels of blood glucose. Foods that may give way to a sudden increase in the level of blood sugar in the body are on top of the index, while foods that cause a slow falling and rising in the blood sugar may be found on the lower part of the index. A personal trainer and sports nutritionist, Greenfield notes that if we stick to foods which have a glycemic index of less than 50, this will ensure that the production of HGH is at optimum levels all the time. Some of the foods which are included in this category are bananas, apples, corn, carrots, mangoes, honey, oranges, milk, pasta, pancakes, strawberries, pears, and peaches.

High-Protein Foods

Robert Atkins, a cardiologist who came up with the diet for weight loss which supports this point, noted in his “Dr. Atkin’s Age-Defying Diet” that HGH production is being stimulated by consuming a diet which is low in carbohydrates and rich in protein. Similar to advancing age, obesity can slow the production of HGH that is why the maintenance of a healthy weight is important in sustenance of optimal levels of HGH in the body. The level of amino acids which may be found in foods which are rich in protein plays a vital role when it comes to triggering the production of HGH naturally. As some foods which are high in protein contain significant fat levels, opt for lean protein in order to avoid the effects of fat intake on the HGH production.  Protein sources which are healthy include organic chicken, lean beef, organic eggs, almonds, tempeh, quinoa, wild salmon, tuna, and Greek-style plain yogurt.

GABA-Rich Foods

Consuming foods that have high GABA or gamma-aminobutyric acid levels can stimulate the brain in order to increase HGH production, according to “Thin Over 40” by Dr. Gregory Jantz. Including foods which are high in GABA in the diet as a person ages can counteract the low production of HGH. Aside from that, GABA-rich foods can have a calming and relaxing effect on individuals as it has the tendency to inhibit fear and pain.

Tips that will Help you Get By with Stretch Marks

Stretch marks are notorious skin problems that can get anyone crazy by the time they said their first hello. Upon seeing the thin crooked pinkish line on the skin, the person would first smudge it thinking that it is just a scratch on the surface but upon trying for quite some time, he will slowly realize that this is not any ordinary line; it is stretch mark. This then would be the first “hello”  you get from it and from the first hello, you can expect that the attachment will be hard to break.

So what do you do when you have stretch marks? Here are some of the tips that you can benefit from. Take note that some of the tips here are better off done before the first hello although everything can be done during the stay of the skin problem.

Tip Number One: Drinking a lot of Water

Water is a blessing wherever you go. For Christians, water even symbolizes the medium of cleaning the sins of a person. In the world of wellness and health, water is the source of detoxification. There are many benefits that anyone can take from drinking a lot of water. For example, if you drink a lot of water especially before you eat meals, you will have a sensation of being full and so you only eat less. When you eat less, you are actually preventing yourself from bloating up and thereby acquiring stretch marks.

For more serious benefits, water can help in the elasticity of the skin. This elasticity is really needed by anyone to help in the unending deformities of the skin. So if you do not want for stretch marks to appear on your skin, or you want to lighten them up, then you should make it a point to drink a lot of water every day.

Tip Number Two: Get a Good Moisturizer

What does it mean to get a good moisturizer? Well, for one point, it means that you have to get the one that has a good reputation in the market. You will understand reputation if it has been in the industry for some time. Always remember that a good product will stand the test of time and of consumers.

Another thing that will make a moisturizer good is if it has an ingredient known as wheat germ oil. It is believed that wheat germ oil can give amazing results with the lightening of stretch marks.

Tip Number Three: Stay out of the Sun

This tip is more to lessen the aggravating effect of the sun. Staying out of the sun’s touch can help you manage the skin problem because the sun, with all its harmful effect, can only aggravate the circumstances. In fact, it does not even matter what kind of skin problem this is, just avoid the sun.

These three tips, although just three in number, can help you a lot in your fight against stretch marks. So make sure that you always remember and follow them.

Selecting Treatment for Acne and Acne Scars

There are a lot of cures to be had when it comes to acne. You can try for topical over-the-counter medication or you can try home remedies; no matter where you go, acne treatment is pretty much open and shut in terms of accessibility a well as treatment. So it is not a matter of where and how you get treatment, but choosing what are the best options for your skin.

Skin can be fickle organ to please; not only is it the largest organ in the body, it can also be perhaps one of its more sensitive. In fact, skin treatment aside from acne relies on pre-tests in order to make sure that treatment does not cause ill reactions. This is also the reason why most acne companies develop better formulations so it can be safe for most types of skin.

Worst Case Scenarios

Acne may be nearly unavoidable during your teen years, it is still treatable. We all get acne, just at varying degrees that are due to hygienic issues, complications from certain diseases or even your genetics.

Worsening cases of acne can be triggered by a variety of ways. Hair gels and excessive use of makeup can cause build up in your pores, thus exacerbating the build up of acne on your face.

Perhaps one of the worst case scenarios I’m talking about are Comedonal and inflammatory acne. Comedonal acne is your whitehead and/or blackhead outbreaks that are formed due to the ungainly mix of old skin and sebum that clogs your pores. Inflammatory acne on the other hand are Comedonal areas that have taken the appearance of reddish or even inflamed skin.

Again, their treatment can cause varying degrees of problems, but they are not impossible to cure. They can still be treated via topical over the counter medication to be paired with antibiotic use in order to counter its effects. Retinol creams, which anti-wrinkle connoisseurs are very familiar of, helps restore your skin to its more supple and elastic form by stimulating the growth of collagen in your dermis. Doxycycline and tetracyclines are choice antibiotics that should be used in conjunction with the retinoid medication.

Hormones and Acne

Acne is not only caused by clogged pores, there are also cases in which your hormones are directly responsible for the spread and increase in acne activity. They are pronounced in women who have hormonal fluctuations due to the menstrual cycle.  In such cases, dermatologists recommend the use of contraceptive pills in order to distill its effects.

Products such as Estrostep, Ortho Tri-Cyclen are known to be effective in such cases. However, one must understand that oral contraceptives or pill-form contraceptives need time to work as their effect is gradual rather than instantaneous.

One characteristic side effect that is commonly attributed to these types of medication is that it can cause frequent urination.

Positive Effects of HGH

HGH, or human growth hormone, plays a vital role when it comes to rejuvenation and development. It is produced and released in the pituitary gland, HGH can only reach a few sites in our bodies. However, chemists have come up with a synthetic kind of human growth hormone which can penetrate almost all cells. This kind will offer the user with a wide variety of medical advantages. However, synthetic HGH can also cause dangerous adverse effects. Before taking HGH, it is best to consult with your physician first.

Facilitates Growth

Medical experts have been making use of HGH in order to treat clients who have a short stature. According to a review in the “Journal of Endocrinology” journal published in December 2003, growth hormones were originally obtained by pharmacists from human cadavers. Several concerns regarding the transmission of diseases led to the synthetic HGH development in the late 1980s. The treatment of choice for short children remains to be recombinant growth hormone. In the July 2011 “Hormone Research in Pediatrics” issue, an analysis revealed that about 80% of children who have been treated with synthetic HGH come really close to achieving their full genetic potential.

Fights Osteoporosis

Chemotherapy is being advised to children who have cancer of the bone marrow. This treatment often causes damage to the pituitary gland, which then results to a deficiency in HGH. This will in turn reduce the mineral density in their bones, which places them at high risk of developing developing osteoporosis, a report according to the “European Journal of Endocrinology” published in May 2011. Beginning a replacement protocol using HGH can aid in reducing this risk. In the August 2011 issue of the “Journal of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology”, a clinical study tested a similar hypothesis with adults who have been diagnosed with cancer when they were children. HGH treatment for two years has shown to improve the bone mineral density of the patients and also their intellectual health.

Enhances Performance

Several athletes who want a competitive edge use growth hormones. According to an article in the “Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry” published last August 2001, this practice started even before the clinical purpose of HGH was discovered. Many sports stars believe that if they take HGH, their athletic abilities will improve, but studies have shown that only those with a deficiency of the hormone showed improvement and benefits. The “JCEM” May 2001 issue presented a study which evaluated the effects of growth hormones on adults with an HGH deficiency. A year of treatment later increased the capacity of the subjects to do aerobic exercises. Aside from that, HGH also lowered their cholesterol levels.

Builds Muscle

Bodybuilders and weightlifters take HGH sometimes in order to increase muscle mass. According to the “American Journal on Addictions” published last January 2011, this will often lead to drug dependence symptoms. However, there is little research available to support the potential muscle-building advantages of HGH in adults. Studies which tested adults who have a deficiency in HGH showed that human growth hormone can produce a series of anabolic effects.
