As specified in the definition box, a "study abroad" program is one that usually lasts one or two semesters in a school other than the one you expect to obtain a degree from. All universities in Australia accept international students into a study abroad program, and the student is allowed to choose their courses. What you need to do is to first figure out what you want to study. The next step is to find a university in Australia that the program that best suits your needs.
There are basically 3 ways to find what will work the best for you;
Direct Enrollment
All universities in Australia allow students to directly enroll. Students
can either obtain international student prospectuses from the AEO or through
the University in Australia directly. This process is done with the student
and the Australian university being in direct contact relating to accommodation,
credit transfer, payments, health insurance and visa matters.
Enrollment Programs
Enrollment Organizations exist to assist students and study abroad advisors
with the process of enrolling in an overseas institutions. Each Australian university
works with a specific set of enrollment organizations in the US and Canada.
These organizations work as the intermediary between the student and the overseas
institution. There is usually a fee for these services, but there is a contact
students can reach daily should they have questions.
University Exchange Programs
This option is for US/Canadian students currently enrolled in a university.
You should check with your home university about their links with Australian
institutions and the option to go on an "exchange" program. If the
exchange program exists, in many cases you pay your home institution tuition
but are able to attend the Australian institution. If an Australian student
does the same thing, you basically "swap" places.
