New Zealand and Australian
Studies Section

of the

Western Social Science Association

The New Zealand Studies Section comprises sessions of papers and panel discussions presented at the annual meeting of the Western Social Science Association. The purposes of the section are to promote the scholarly study of New Zealand and Australia in North America; to provide a forum for the presentation of research on New Zealand and Australia; and to provide an opportunity for scholars with interests in New Zealand and Australia to meet professionally.

The umbrella organization for NZ-OZ Studies is the Western Social Science Association. The WSSA is a house with many rooms: it has sections devoted to disciplines (Anthropology, History, Political Science, and so on) and other sections devoted to topics or studies (Arid Land Studies, Canadian Studies, Women's Studies, and others), with cross listing of sessions between sections. The annual meeting of the WSSA is a major, international conference that convenes in late April in a western American city. Its content extends beyond the traditionally social scientific disciplines, involving scholars of the arts, humanities, sciences, and applied fields.
